A funeral Mass will be held Saturday for Perla Gatchalian, 75, who was killed in her Mahopac home in April by her daughter's father-in-law from Westchester County, according to police.

The Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 221 E. Lake Blvd., Mahopac, according to Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home.

Her cremated remains will be taken to Mililani Mauka Memorial Park in Hawaii in August to be reunited with her late husband, Ramon, according to her obituary.

Gatchalian, who was born in Baguio City, Philippines on November 14, 1941, to Victor Ventigan Sr. and Priscilla Gumawid, was one of 12 children.

She emigrated from the Philippines to Hawaii and became a U.S. citizen before moving to New York and working as an accountant for 30 years with Verizon, according to her obituary.

In addition to spending time with her family, Gatchalian was very active at the Kohler Center in Mahopac. She loved walking, Zumba, flowers, and bright colors.

She is survived by her daughter, Marinee Buffone and her husband Frank of Mahopac; her brother Benigno Ventigan of California; her sister Viola Cruz of the Philippines; as well as her three grandchildren, Gianna Maria, Amanda Pearl and Francesco Filippo Buffone. Her husband died in 2011.

Family and friends are invited to take part in a celebration of her life at a repast luncheon at St. John's Social Hall immediately following the funeral Mass.

Gatchalian was found dead on April 27 in her Coventry Circle home, where she lived with her daughter's family.

She was shot by Filippo Buffone, her daughter's father-in-law, according to Carmel Police over financial matters.

Five days later Buffone, 69, killed himself in a parking lot near his West Harrison home.
