Florence Hendricks, 86, Formerly Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – Florence Hendricks of Boynton Beach, Fla., and formerly of Yonkers, died Sept. 2 at her daughter's home in Boynton Beach. She was 86.

Hendricks was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Yonkers to Clarence and Philippina Brown. She graduated from Gorton High School, was a member of the Amackassin Club for 36 years and was a parishioner of Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart. She was married to Alexander Hendricks for 56 years. 

She lived in Yonkers for 60 years before moving to New Milford, Conn., where she was a member of the Candlewood Valley Golf Club and a volunteer with the local food pantry. 

She moved to Florida in 1997 to play golf year round and to be closer to her granddaughter. Hendricks was an avid golfer who enjoyed socializing with the many friends she met along the way.  

Hendricks is survived by four children, Leslie, Paul, Joanne, and Alex; a son-in-law, Don Kree; a sister, Isabelle Kielb; and a granddaughter, Alexandra.

She was predeceased by her husband; two sisters, Josephine Edmiston and Cecilia Blute; and her brother, Charles Brown.  

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Sept. 28 at Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers.
