Fire Lt. Anthony Mangone, 48, Yonkers Resident

YONKERS, N.Y. – Fire Lt. Anthony Mangone, of Yonkers, died suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 26. He was 48.

He was born Aug. 31, 1967 to Edward and Catherine (Reitano) Mangone. 

He was hired as a Yonkers firefighter on Nov. 7, 1994 and promoted to lieutenant on Jan. 30, 2012. 

For many years, he worked in Ladder 71 and most recently was assigned to special operations. He was a master mason with King Hiram 12 in Shelton, Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was very active in the community and charities.

He is survived by his daughter, Alexa McRedmond (Baby Bear); father, Edward Mangone; sister Judith Rajcok and her husband, John; nieces Julia and Jordan Rajcok; and sister Daphne Catalano.

He was predeceased by his mother, Catherine (Reitano) Mangone. 

Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 670 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers. Interment is private.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
