YONKERS, N.Y. - Edward John Simko of Yonkers, recently of Mechanicsburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Nov. 27. He was 81.
Simko was born Aug. 5, 1932, to Michael and Mary Simko of Yonkers. He graduated from Saunders Trade and Technical High School in Yonkers and went on to serve in the Korean War as a combat medic. After his marriage he resided with his wife in Yonkers. He was employed by the NY Telephone and AT&T phone companies until he retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Yonkers Amateur Golf Association, The Hollowa Athletic club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Simko is survived by his children, Edward Simko, Jr. (Kristin) of Pheonix, Ariz., John (Josephine) Simko of Bethel, Conn., Thomas (Julie) Simko of Mechanicsburg, Pa., David (Lorena) Simko of Yonkers and William (Tara) of Bethel, Conn.; five grandsons; and two granddaughters. He was predeceased by his parents; sister; brother; and wife, Marilyn.
Calling hours are Monday, Dec. 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Dec. 3 in St. Anthony's Church in Yonkers. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
