YONKERS, N.Y. - Edna Amelia Cleary (nee Strahan) of Yonkers died Monday, Feb. 3. She was 88.
Cleary was born April 10, 1925, to Thomas and Amelia (Meyers) Strahan in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Yonkers High School. She was the director of nursing at Yonkers General Hospital when she retired in 1985, after 40 years. She received her Masters in nursing from Mercy College.
Cleary is survived by her children, Mary Ellen Cleary, Thomas (Barbara), William (Nancy), Timothy (Patricia) Cleary; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Cleary.
Calling hours are Thursday, Feb. 6 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7 in Christ the King Church. Interment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
