Dorothy Richardson, 88, Former Yonkers Resident

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Dorothy C. (Jones) Richardson, who was born and raised in Yonkers, died on Sept. 16 in Tampa, Fla. She was 88.

Richardson was born Aug. 25, 1925 and was  the daughter of William and Lillian (nee’ Gillen) Jones. She was a student at Gorton High School. Dorothy married Alexander C. Richardson on June 30, 1951. Dorothy was also an active member of A.M.E. Zion Trinity Place in Yonkers. After leaving Yonkers in 1962, she frequently returned to visit family and loved ones.

Dorothy was also an active member of A.M.E. Zion Trinity Place in Yonkers. She left Yonkers in 1962, but often came back to visit family and loved ones.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Thomas and Ruth Leonard, and her brother and sister-in-law Isaiah and Lilymarie Jones. She is also survived by her sons Alexander “Craig” III, Jeffrey, and Kevin; 12 grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Services will will be held Sept. 28 at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park & Funeral Home 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Fla. 33759, (727) 669-6737. Viewing at 10 a.m., service at 11.
