Dorothy Flynn, 76, Of Yonkers, Tarrytown Schoolteacher

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Dorothy Flynn, 76, of Yonkers, died Wednesday, Jan. 7.

She was born Dec. 20, 1938, to Timothy and Bridget (McCormack) Flynn in the Bronx, where she was raised and attended schools. She graduated from Dominican College and received her master's degree in education from St. John's University.

Flynn worked as a schoolteacher with the Tarrytown school system for over 25 years. She retired in 1998. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Church, where she did volunteer work in both the church office and the school.

She is survived by her brother John (Patricia) Flynn of Dumont, N.J.; her sister Frances Smith of Florida; her nephew, Timothy; and four nieces: Mary, Joanne, Katie and Tracey. She was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Flynn. 

Visiting hours will be held at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 11, from 2-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Christ the King Church on Monday, Jan.12, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery.
