Charles V. Peterson, 55, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Charles V. Peterson, of Yonkers, died on Saturday Jan. 17 after a long illness. He was 55. 

Charles was born on Oct. 19, 1959 to Charles and Helen (nee Monahan) Peterson in Yonkers, where he was raised and graduated from Gorton High School. He was an electrician with Local 3 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for more than 32 years. On April 27, 1985 Charles married Ginny Trainor in St. Anthony's Church. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Lakers Association and a former coach with St. Anthony's, Sacred Heart and the Yonkers Boys & Girls Club. 

Besides his wife, Ginny, Charles is survived by his three daughters, Jamie, Kerry and Carly; his brother; his sister; his in-laws; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Earl Smith. 

Visiting hours will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19 and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave. in Yonkers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wedneday, Jan. 21 in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. A scholarship fund will be established in Charles' memory and donations may be made to Ginny Peterson c/o 36 Shelbourne Road, Yonkers, N.Y. 10710.
