YONKERS, N.Y. – Carol Lillian Misner O'Leary of Yonkers died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family Wednesday, Feb. 18. She was 79.
O'Leary was born Dec. 20, 1935, in New York City to Lillian and Edwin Misner, a niece to Charlotte and Lester Bessell.
She graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers, attending the State University of New York's State Teachers College at Cortland.
O'Leary began her career in recreation with the city of Yonkers Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, retiring in 1995 as the director of programs and services with the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon O'Leary, son-in-law Daniel Feeney, son Michael O'Leary, partner Sue Muller, son Cornelius O'Leary, daughter Jennifer Panella, son-in-law Joe Panella; and granddaughter Cailin O'Leary.
The family is planning a memorial to be held in the near future.
