Bhagvat Jani, 74, Mohegan Lake Resident, Formerly Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – Bhagvat Jani, 74, of Mohegan Lake and formerly of Yonkers, died on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Born on May 25, 1940, to Govindlal and Lalita Jani in India, Jani was the owner and operator of Jani's Pharmacy in Yonkers for over 35 years before retiring in 2009. He was the former president of the Lions Association, past president of the Indian American Cultural Association of Westchester, a member of The Westchester and Rockland Society of Pharmacists and a member of the Indo American Pharmaceuticals Society.

Jani is survived by his wife, Rama (Bhatt); two children, Milind (Joanne) Jani of Cortlandt Manor, and Dr. Shilpa (Mark) Mendelson; and two grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 5-9 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers.
