Austin W. Lobbe, 86, Of Yonkers, Retired DPW Employee

YONKERS, N.Y. - Austin W. Lobbe, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died Thursday, June 12. He was 86.

Lobbe was born Dec. 28, 1927, to Ellis and Marion Ball Lobbe in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. He was a sanitation worker for the DPW in Yonkers for many years prior to his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman first class from 1945 to 1950. He was a member of VFW Post 1666 in Yonkers and Bajart Post of the American Legion. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and was a member of the Finian Seniors and the 140 Club.

Lobbe is survived by his wife, Barbara (nee Hesselberg) Kirschbaum; son, Joseph E. Lobbe (Barbara) of Yonkers; daughter, Theresa Gonzales (Louie) of Montgomery; brothers, Robert of Rockland County and Eugene of Moscow, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his first wife, Theresa M. Wall; son, Austin (Billy) Lobbe, Jr.; grandsons, Keith Lobbe and Sean Brunner; and brother, Ellis Lobbe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 16 at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
