YONKERS, N.Y. – Andrea "Andrew" Pasquale Primo Piacente of Yonkers died Wednesday, Sept. 5. He was 58.
Piacente was born Oct. 26, 1953, at sea on an Italian ocean liner to Pietro and Alfa Pensa Piacente. He worked as a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service since 1977. Piacente became a union steward in 1979 and held various positions with the National Postal Mail Handlers Union during his long career.
He served as the union's administrative vice president and branch president of Westchester and as a New York state executive board member until his retirement in August. Piacente also was a parishioner and religious education teacher at St. Eugene's Church in Yonkers.
He is survived by his wife, Marie L. Kanych Piacente; three children, Christina (Paul) Dedvukaj, Andrew (Andrea) Piacente and Adam Piacente; his mother, Alfa Piacente; a brother, George Piacente; and two grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sinatra Memorial Home in Yonkers. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Eugene's Church in Yonkers. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers.
