YONKERS, N.Y. -- Albert (Al) Pisano Jr., a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died Friday, July 3, at the age of 84.
He was born Dec. 19, 1930, the son of Anna (Vigliotti) and Albert Pisano Sr. He attended Yonkers public schools and, as a youth, was very active in civic events and played the tuba in the marching band for many local parades.
Pisano was a decorated Navy veteran of the Korean War. After being discharged, he worked as an operating engineer in Local 137 for 43 years.
He loved taking care of his house and garden and spent many weekends doing projects around the house. He was very friendly and helpful to his neighbors on Glenbrook Avenue, where he resided for more than 50 years. He will be remembered for happily lending his tools and giving home maintenance advice whenever asked. He will be remembered by his family, friends and neighbors for his dedication, sense of humor, generosity and outgoing personality.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Rocco); and four children, Albert Paul (Miwako Waga) Pisano, Michael (Patricia) Pisano, Ruthann (Lou Angeletti) Pisano and Loretta (Anthony) Sinopoli; seven grandchildren, Sara, Olivia and Christopher Pisano, Valerie, Ben and Natalie Pucilowski, and AJ Sinopoli; and a great-grandchild, Damian.
Arrangements were handled by Flower Funeral Home Inc., 714 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers. Religious services took place Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with interment following at St. Mary's Cemetery.
