Albert John Daquila, 88, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – Albert John Daquila, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died Monday, Feb. 23. He was 88.

Daquila was born on June 27, 1926, to Frank and Mary Daquila. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Bonham Richard in the Pacific.

After returning home, Daquila married Viola Cianciulli on June 26, 1949; they began dating after exchanging letters while he was enlisted.

He worked in insurance investigation and claims for the New York Central Railroad and Crum and Foster Insurance Co., retiring and becoming an usher for St. Barnabas Parish in the Bronx for 25 years.

Daquila is survived by his wife; five children, Diane Torino and husband Frank, Albert and wife Ginger, Joseph, Francis, and Donna Sayegh and husband Sami; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A wake will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 4-8 p.m. at Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 26, at 9:45 a.m. in St. Barnabas Church, 409 E. 241st Street, the Bronx.
