Johanna Miller has posted to Facebook, taken to the street with fliers and kept in contact with the neighborhood bird store in an effort to track down the bird owner, but has had little success.

"I didn't have any supplies to care for him," she said. "I just bought him some birdseed and jerry-rigged a cage using chopsticks and packing tape as a makeshift perch."

Miller has posted the bird's photo to the Lost Pets of Westchester County Facebook page, which has reunited many a lost pet with its owner. Despite the effort, she said she's received no calls inquiring about the bird.

"I figure I'll give the owner about a week before deciding for sure if we should keep him," she said. "If we decide not to, I'm planning to give him to the bird store so he can be adopted."

Anyone who may own the parakeet or who may have information about its owner, should call Miller at 405-650-7875.
