Yonkers' spokeswoman Christina Gilmartin confirmed the brewery will assume a vacant industrial space on Alexander Street, near the train platform.

Operated by Andy Fondak and his parents, Jeff and Dot Fondak, the brewery will include an 11,000 square-foot production and sales area, as well as a tap room for the public, said Lohud.com.

The family is from Watertown, N.Y., where Andy founded the area's largest craft beer bar. Both Andy and Jeff Fondak are graduates of the World Brewing Academy, reported Lohud.com.

Their plans involve using imported German equipment and combining European and American brewing techniques. They hope to be open by the end of 2016, said Lohud.com.
