Yonkers Teacher Fired After Criminal Record Discovered, Report Says

YONKERS, N.Y. -- A teacher at a Yonkers school was fired last week after officials learned he had an arrest record, according to News 12.

James Wilkins, who taught health at the Pulaski School and School 15, was fired Thursday, Sept. 22, after school officials learned he had a record for grand theft and identity fraud in North Carolina, said News 12.

A spokeswoman for the school district said Wilkins was hired and fired appropriately and they had turned the matter over to the Yonkers police, added News 12.
