YONKERS,N.Y. —  Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano announced this morning that the travel ban for the area had been lifted, but is urging residents to use extreme caution when driving.

“While we are thankful that the winter storm was less impactful on our area than originally forecasted, dangerous conditions, including heavy winds and snow drifting, do still exist,” Spano said. “As our cleanup crews continue to work around the clock clearing and maintaining streets, I urge all motorists to use extreme caution when traveling.”

Yonkers resident Teresa Golebiowski left early this morning to get to Lawrence Hospital in nearby Bronxville, where she works.

"The snow was not as bad as they predicted it would be," she said. "I think that Yonkers was well prepared for this blizzard."

Raquel Sadin said that the streets around by her home in Yonkers were clean, but added, "I think that I will stay indoors today."

City of Yonkers offices, including City Hall, are open Tuesday.

Yonkers public schools and Yonkers public libraries remain closed Tuesday.
