Mayor Mike Spano announced last week the city re-launched the hotline to give residents a chance to report graffiti and vandalism on public or private property.  Information leading to an arrest or conviction may result in a reward up to $500.

"Graffiti isn't just an eyesore, it reflects poorly on our City and our residents and more importantly, it’s offensive to all who live and work in our city,” Spano said in a statement. “We will not tolerate it and will make sure those found violating the law are prosecuted to the fullest extent."

The hotline was briefly scrapped last fall but has been reinstated as the city continues its push for cleaner streets.  Residents are encouraged to call 914-377-8077 to report any form of graffiti.

Individuals found guilty of defacing property with graffiti will be charged with a Class II offense, resulting in fines up to $5,000 and even imprisonment for up to 15 days, officials said.

Property owners who receive a graffiti notice from the city have 48 hours to clean the markings off their property or could face a fine up to $250.
