Da’quan Johnson, aka “Bloody” or “Buddha,” 23, of Yonkers; James Johnson, aka “Jimmy,” 22, of Yonkers; and Kenneth Moore, aka “Doogie,” 24, of Mount Vernon, N.Y. were arrested and charged for the gang-related homicide in Yonkers, police said. The men are members and affiliates of the gang, “GMF,” a street-level gang that operates around the Schlobohm Housing Project in Yonkers, police said.

GMF members have an ongoing dispute with a rival gang known as “Highland” based in the Highland Avenue area, according to police. That dispute led to a retaliation shooting the night of December 27, 2013, when a GMF member shot into a crowd holding a candlelight vigil at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Jackson Street, striking and killing Tyrone Arthur, police said.

Da’quan Johnson and Moore are charged with conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering and possessing a firearm related to a crime of violence resulting in death, police said. James Johnson is charged as an accessory to murder, becuase he is accused of hiding the weapon from law enforcement, police said.

Da’quon Johnson and James Johnson were arrested July 17 in Yonkers and Moore was arrested in Georgia and appeared in Atlanta federal court, police said..

“The arrest of these violent individuals will make the streets of Yonkers a safer place," said Yonkers Police Commissioner Charles Gardner.

"While working with our federal and local law enforcement partners we continue to make progress in aggressively pursuing and removing violent gang members from our community, he said.

"Gang members operating in Yonkers should be warned that they may be the target of other ongoing investigations and they will ultimately be held accountable for their actions. I would like to specifically thank the US Attorney’s office for the Southern District of NY and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force for their tenacious efforts in this investigation,”Gardner said.
