YONKERS, N.Y. -- An investigation is under way after the discovery of a dead man in Yonkers Saturday.
At approximately 2:08 p.m., a first-precinct officer was flagged down while on patrol in the area of Sprain Road. The officer was informed that a family member was down inside of a private residence at 233 Sprain Road. Police units made entry into the home and discovered an 83-year-old male resident, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The man lived alone at the residence, police said.
His name is not being released at this time pending further notifications to his family.
Initial investigation does not reveal any signs of foul play, but the case is active and ongoing, Yonkers police said.
The Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office removed the body for further examination.
It appears that there was a contained fire inside of the home at some point and the resident may have been deceased inside of the residence for an undetermined period of time.
