Yonkers OKs Auction Of First Group Of Deadbeat Properties

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers trustees have approved the seizure of 17 properties from owners who failed to pay their taxes, according to an official at City Hall.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano is getting tough on deadbeat homeowners and the city is considering putting hundreds of properties on the auction block in the spring, according to a report by lohud.

Among the properties the City Council voted on Tuesday, March 8, were a burned-out house on Vineyard Avenue and a neglected building on Ashburton Avenue, the lohud article said.
