Frank Fernandez, 45, was laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson after a Mass was celebrated at the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers.

Fernandez, who was married with two children, had been with the Police Department for 15 years.

He was a “well-respected member” whose “passing is a major loss to the YPD family,” said Police Commissioner Charles Gardner.

According to his obituary, posted on the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home website, Fernandez is survived by his wife, Alex, and his two sons, David and Daniel; his parents, Nazael and Nuvia; a brother, Nazael, and sister-in-law, Tina; and nephews, Anthony, Nicholas and Andrew.

Fernandez’s flag-draped coffin was escorted through the streets by police riding motorcycles, and bagpipes were played as it was carried out of the church, according to a report by lohud.com.
