YONKERS, N.Y. -- The suspect shot and killed in a police chase of the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers on Tuesday afternoon has been identified.

The suspect, 36-year-old Miguel Espinal, was shot at Tibbetts Brook Park by an NYPD officer, according to a report by The New York Times.

Espinal, of Queens, was on parole for burglary. After fleeing a gray 2009 Nissan through a window and jumping over a guardrail, according to police, he was killed from a single shot fired by an officer from NYPD's 50th precinct.

Another suspect, identified as 25-year-old Akeem Smith of Yonkers was taken into custody.

The stretch of the parkway where the 12:10 p.m. crash occurred was between Exit 3 (McLean Avenue) and the Cross County Parkway (Exit 4).

Tibbetts Park will remain closed throughout Tuesday evening as the investigation continues. It is expected the majority of the park will reopen Wednesday.

Yonkers Police said it has been informed by the NYPD that there are no additional suspects being sought.

The police chase started in the Riverdale section of the Bronx just before noon and ended with the Saw Mill River Parkway crash.

The chase reportedly began when the Nissan hit an NYPD vehicle in Riverdale and then sped away.

Several people suffered non-life threatening injuries in both the crash and subsequent manhunt, including two police officers, who sustained minor injuries according to WABC-7.

At one point during the chase, the Nissan drove the wrong way on the Saw Mill, according to reports.

The Yonkers Police Department assisted the NYPD in the search near Tibbets Park.

County Executive Rob Astorino was on the scene and received a briefing from county police.
