Yonkers Man Charged With Unlawfully Collecting Unemployment

YONKERS, N.Y. – Jamik R. Blount, 31, of Yonkers was charged with third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony, and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a Class E felony on Wednesday, according to state police.

It is alleged Blount unlawfully received approximately $12,000 in unemployment benefits he was not entitle to collect, state police said. False business records were generated by Blount when he certified weekly that he was unemployed when, in fact, he was gainfully employed, according to state police.

Blount is scheduled to appear before the City of Yonkers Court on Monday, Dec. 22.
