Yonkers Kicks Off Earth Week With Tree Planting

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers kicked off Earth Week on Monday, April 21, with a tree planting ceremony at City Hall.

Mayor Mike Spano, right and members of the Yonkers Parks Department, Yonkers Historical Society and Emerald Tree Care, were on hand for the planting.

Mayor Mike Spano was joined by members of the Yonkers Parks Department, Yonkers Historical Society and Emerald Tree Care for the planting.

Spano named the tree "The Tree of Diversity" in honor of all Yonkers residents.

Throughout the day, the city’s Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department and Emerald Tree Care also worked to maintain and prune the trees at City Hall's Washington Park.
