Yonkers Grocery Store Owner, Workers Charged With Fraud

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Owners and employees of three Yonkers grocery stores have been charged by federal prosecutors in a scheme to overcharge on food-stamp electronic benefits cards in exchange for cash, according to LoHud.com. 

Five men were charged in the scheme in which  food stamp benefits were exchanged for more than $1.2 million over the course of several years, LoHud.com reported.

Gloria Garcia, 51, Ahmed Alsamet, 35 and Yousif Kassim, 30 were charged along with two employees, Shoiab Ahmed, 22 and Mufid Kassem, 36. If convicted, the five could spend up to five years in prison, according to LoHud.com.
