YONKERS, N.Y. – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano announced the launch of a campaign to get state lawmakers interested into what he called "a partnership" for a $2 billion reconstruction of local school buildings, according to lohud.com.

The campaign is being launched because of the city's aging school buildings, which average 75 years in age, lohud.com said.

Examples include Gorton High School with its almost 60-year-old boilers and flammable plexiglass windows dating back to the 1970s, reported lohud.com.

Spano also mentioned the campaign would use social media, complete with a website , Twitter account and various hashtags, noted lohud.com.
