YONKERS, N.Y. -- New Engine 304 was unveiled recently at Fire Station 4 on Radford Street in Yonkers.
The new Engine 304 is made of stainless steel, which allows for greater strength and corrosion resistance. The new engine is smaller than the outgoing apparatus, which allows for greater maneuverability, especially on some of the narrow streets in southwest Yonkers.
Station 4 primarily serves the southern and western portions of the city but is prepared to respond to calls citywide. Engine 304 is among the busiest engine companies in Yonkers and responds to fire and medical emergency calls.
“Every time they enter a burning building, our firefighters put their lives on the line to protect life and property in our city,” said Mayor Mike Spano. “That’s why we’re so committed to protecting them and investing in the equipment that will help keep our Bravest safe.”
