YONKERS, N.Y. – The Yonkers Film Festival is seeking entries for its second annual film festival, taking place Oct.17 through Oct. 19 in the state-of-the-art theater at the Yonkers Riverfront Library.

The submission period is open through August. Films accepted into the festival will be announced in September. Last year's submissions came from over a dozen countries and featured 16 premiers, as well 17 films with Westchester connections.

"People had a really good experience last time and told their friends, so we've had a lot of interest from filmmakers already," said Dave Steck, executive director of the festival known as YoFi Fest.

"We're very optimistic that we're going to get some great films that audiences are really going to enjoy. This year's festival is going to be even bigger and better than the last one!"

YoFi Fest plans to screen more than 75 films this year, including features, shorts, documentaries, animation, music videos and student work. Another "mini film school" is also planned that includes discussions led by award-winning industry professionals on various aspects of film making.

A red carpet reception and nightly parties are planned. Saturday and Sunday mornings will feature free family-friendly screenings and programs for kids.

To submit a film or for more information, visit the festival's website here .
