Yonkers City Council Votes To Create Haas Historic District

YONKERS, N. Y. -- The Yonkers City Council made a strong statement on the value of the three iconic Richard Haas murals on downtown buildings by voting 5-2 on Wednesday, Feb. 24, to create a historic district, according to lohud.com.

The Richard Haas Mural Historic District designates the three murals on three different downtown buildings near Main Street and Riverdale Avenue as landmarks, lohud.com said. 

The move now requires the city's landmarks preservation board to weigh in on any future plans to alter the buildings, according to lohud.com.
