YONKERS, N.Y. -- Plans are in place for the old Yonkers City Jail to be purchased by two prominent members of the arts community who hope to transform the space into an art studio, gallery and loft space, according to LoHud.com .
Daniel Wolf, an art collector and dealer, plans to buy the space with his wife, architect and artist Maya Lin. The 10,000-square foot building is being sold “as-is” and may require rezoning by the city to meet the proposed plans, LoHud.com said.
Immediate plans call for the building to hold Wolf’s collection and serve as a location for dance performances, lectures and exhibits. Long-range plans include constructing an addition for artist studios and residences, according to LoHud.com
