The project plans, formulated utilizing the ideas and input of Lockwood Avenue residents, include new concrete sidewalks and curbs, storm drainage, handicap compliant ramps and the installation of new “period” street lighting.

Minority Leader John Larkin, who introduced the idea for the streetscape, said the project recognizes the importance of Lockwood Avenue to the City and will preserve its vitality for years to come.

“Lockwood Avenue is a vital part of our City’s business community and I, along with Mayor Spano, am committed to insuring that it stays that way,”  Minority Leader Larkin said in a statement.

The streetscape will take part in two phases starting from Saw Mill River Road and proceed up Lockwood Avenue to the end of the business district. The project is expected to be completed by March.
