HS Homecoming Football Game Postponed After Sleepy Hollow Stabbing Death

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- The varsity football game between Somers and Sleepy Hollow scheduled for Sleepy Hollow on Saturday has been postponed following the Friday night stabbing death of a 17-year-old boy in Sleepy Hollow.

"Due to a tragic incident in our community, today's Homecoming game has been postponed," The Tarrytown Union Free School District said in a statement. "Please let your friends and neighbors know. 

"Counseling will be provided throughout the weekend to any Sleepy Hollow High school students who might need those services."

A 17-year-old from an undisclosed location in New Jersey was pronounced at Westchester Medical Center after he after he was found in the Barnhard Park bleeding from a stab wound, lohud.com reported. A suspect was apprehended a short time later in Yonkers. Neither the victim nor suspect has been identified.

The Somers-Sleepy Hollow game was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday. No information has been released as to when the game will be rescheduled.
