The allocation, coordinated through the county Department of Information Technology, repurposes used computers, printers and other pieces of electronic equipment.

InnerFaith Church plans to use the refurbished computers for its new learning lab, the Rev. Cheryl Jenkins, church administrator, said in a press release. The lab will offer computer classes to not only neighborhood adults, but also young people participating in the church’s after-school programs.

“InnerFaith Church is committed to making an impact on our community,” Jenkins said. “Our pastor, Bishop Clayton Nelson, is thankful that the county has given us the opportunity to help provide these services.”

“We believe that we are called to not only meet the spiritual needs of people but also to meet their needs in a practical way as well.”

In the administration of County Executive Robert P. Astorino, more than 140 devices have been allocated to non-profit organizations through the Westchester Access program.

“The Department of Information Technology has made great strides in using technology as a way to give back to our community partners, who work diligently to serve the county’s neediest residents,” Department of Information Technology Commissioner John McCaffrey said in a press release.
