CBS New York reporter Brian Conybeare visited Ossining and spoke to residents who spotted the moose, estimated to be 7-feet tall and weighing between 800 and 900 pounds.

Resident Joanne Peck, who supplied a photo of the moose to Daily Voice, was among those featured in the CBS New York report.

The segement, which aired on CBS New York's 11 p.m. newscast, also featured a video obtained by Daily Voice by a Millwood resident who spotted the wild animal a day earlier.

NBC New York played footage of the Daily Voice video during its 6 p.m. newscast.

Moose sightings are extremely rare in southern New York. There are only an estimate 800 moose in the state, with most located far upstate near the Canadian and Vermont borders. Unlike deer, moose do not form herds and are solitary animals, adding to the likelihood the same moose was spotted in both Bedford and Millwood.
