Metro-North Harlem Line service was back to normal around noontime Tueday after delays throughout much of the morning as a result of a track fire that broke out Thursday at the Katonah station.

Delays of up to 15 minutes were reported late in the morning on the Hudson Line as a result of an unrelated track condition requiring attention in the vicinity of Riverdale.

The Katonah fire began around 8:05 a.m. on the northbound track near Route 35.

"Concerned riders waiting for their trains began calling Metro North and the local police at that time," said rider Ed Thieberger.

The Katonah fire department was on the scene at the train station by around 8:15 a.m. and had the fire out within minutes, he added.

Katonah service was restored by 8:30 a.m., said the Bedford Police Department.
