Thruway Authority Announces Overnight Lane Closures On I-87

YONKERS, N.Y. -- The Thruway Authority announced sign structure replacement work will require overnight lane closures on I-87 in both directions between Exit 2 (Yonkers Avenue) and Exit 4 (Cross County Parkway) beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13 until 6 a.m., Thursday morning, Jan. 14.

Portions of 1-87 at Exit 2 and Exit 4 will be closed overnight beginning tomorrow through Friday morning for roadwork.

The work will continue at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14 until 6 a.m. Friday morning in the northbound direction only.

In addition, traffic will be detoured via Central Park Avenue from Exit 2 in the northbound direction and from Exit 4 in the southbound direction between midnight and 5 a.m. Thursday morning to allow for removal of the existing structure and placement of the new structure. This detour will also be in place between midnight and 5 a.m. on Friday morning, Jan. 15, for the northbound lanes only.

In case of inclement weather, the work may be postponed.

Variable message signs and Highway Advisory Radio (530 AM) will update motorists about expected delays.

The Thruway Authority reminds drivers to use caution during the construction and closure.
