Yonkers firefighters went to the residence around midnight because carbon monoxide detectors were going off, the report said.
Firefighters reported that there were elevated levels of the poisonous gas, and they began knocking on doors to check on residents, the report said.
Fire officials said the toxic gas came from a malfunctioning water heater, and crews reported that they did not have to evacuate the whole building, the report said.
Two people were hospitalized but are in stable condition, the report said.
