YONKERS, N.Y. -- A three-alarm fire that ripped through a two-and-a-half story home at 2 Landscape Place in Yonkers on Monday is under control, Yonkers Fire Department officials said.

A total of 65 firefighters battled the blaze, which began just after 3 p.m. Several firefighters injured.

It was a difficult fire to fight due to the location of the house, officials said. Landscape Place is actually a 6-foot alley, the rear yard is off of Landscape Avenue. There is a severe grade change in the rear.

Eight adults have been relocated as a result of the fire and two dogs have been rescued, according to the Yonkers Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The City of Yonkers Building Department was on the scene with YFD officials and the plan is to demolish the house because it is a hazard and in danger of collapse, Yonkers Fire Department officials said.
