The build is part of Habitat of Westchester's "No More Ugly," program. The program attempts to revitalize entire neighborhoods by adopting 30 neighborhoods to transform for their 30th Anniversary.
Current initiatives in Yonkers include the following:
• Battle Hill (High and Ridge Street)
• Tree Streets
• The Hollows (9 homes, community gardens and rehabs)
• Nodine Hill
• Ashburton Corridor from Warburton to Nepperhan (Seven community gardens, creation of a small business district, painting 15 store fronts, planter distribution, local hiring of teenagers from the Habitat Fire Marching Band)
• Willow Street (Seven homes, plus rehabs and community garden)
