HARRISON, N.Y. – Several flights into and out of Westchester County Airport have been delayed due to fog and impending inclement weather, and two departures were canceled, an airport official said Wednesday afternoon.
When asked if more flights would be canceled as the storm hits Wednesday evening, he said, “It’s possible, but things seem to be more delayed than anything.”
Showers are likely and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday after 4 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain and wind gusts as high as 26 mph. The high temperature was expected to be about 54 degrees
Showers will continue into the evening, and thunderstorms are possible, with damaging winds and heavy rain and an overnight low around 43 degrees. It will be windy, with winds of 13 to 18 mph increasing to 28 mph after midnight with gusts as high as 55 mph.
The canceled departures included flights to Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, plus flights arriving from Charlotte, N.C., and two from Philadelphia.
Those flying out of Westchester County Airport on Wednesday should check the flight status on their individual airlines' websites and possible emails from the airlines on delays and cancellations, the airport official said.
