A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of raping a teenage girl has reported an address change in Westchester County.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Monday to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 29-year-old Jines Garcia, who has moved from Mount Vernon to an apartment on Bronx River Road in Yonkers.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Garcia as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Garcia raped his teenage victim in 2006 and was convicted of first-degree rape after being arrested by the Yonkers City Police Department SOR Unit. He was convicted later that year and sentenced to 10 years in state prison. He reportedly choked his victim, who was known to him. He remains under the jurisdiction of law enforcement officials in Yonkers.
