WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A scary scene unfolded on Tuesday morning when a wrong-way driver got into an accident that caused a car fire on the Saw Mill Parkway in Yonkers.
Officials confirmed that at approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday, a driver traveling southbound on the parkway strayed into the northbound lane, where he struck a Mercedes Benz that had been headed north.
According to reports, both drivers were able to get out of their vehicles before the wrong-way driver’s car went up in flames. Yonkers firefighters reported to the scene and were able to knock down the flames swiftly. No injuries were reported.
No charges have been filed against the driver, though the incident remains under investigation.
