YONKERS, N.Y. - Seven residents of a home at 165 Warburton Ave. were safe and being assisted by the Yonkers Office of Emergency Management following a fire early Sunday.
The fire started in the basement of the home but was quickly controlled by Yonkers Fire Department personnel.
A spoksperson for the OEM said that residents of the fire were being assisted by the Yonkers Office of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross.
Red Cross spokesperson Carolyn Sherwin said all of ghe residents, including two pets (cat and abird), were being cared for and assisted with lodging, food and other support.
"The OEM and Yonkers Fire Department were amazing as usual," Sherwin said. "And a friend of one of the residents was there to interpret for us. The fire was taken care of very quickly."
