The ArtsFest featured exhibitions throughout the area including a car show at AJ's Burgers, and an open house at the Thomas Paine Cottage House. A trolley took people around the city, showing them all New Rochelle had to offer.
Emma Mazariegos was at the Westchester Yoga Studio on 49 Lawton Street, watching her daughters take a dancing class.
"We are learning all about the artists here," Mazariegos, who took her daughters on the trolley tour, said. "This gets bigger every year. I live in New Rochelle and a lot of people don't know how good we have it here. They go, 'Really? We have that?'
Mazariegos said she looks forward to the ArtsFest getting bigger and bigger.
Reverol and Co. Contemporary Art was showcasing its latest exhibit, "Before the Sound," by Vincent Zambrano.
"I like the ArtsFest," employee Maria Baez said. "You see people walking around and enjoying these local businesses. I'd like to see it grow."
"Before the Sound" is about Zambrano and his wife dealing with losing their foster son back to his birth mother. Zambrano recorded the sounds of all four people sleeping and the sounds play in the gallery.
"This exhibit is about loss," John Reverol, who owns the gallery, said. "He went through this emotional trauma. It's an emotional installation."
Susan Nagib was showing off her artwork at Gallery Roc, an artist workspace at 2 Division St. Nagib, a White Plains resident, does graphic design, web design and photography. Her trademark is her photos of Mr. Rich, who makes funny faces.
"I do a little bit of everything," Nagib said. "I really enjoy it."
Nagib said the ArtsFest was great for the city, and people seemed really interested in hearing about New Rochelle's artwork.
"It's a great experience," Nagib said. "It's something we should keep doing."
Nagib said coming to New Rochelle was the best decision she has made.
"I've met so many people and some some great networking," Nagib said. "Being with all these artists is inspirational. It pushes you to do more."
