Owned by Frannie and Isi Albanese, Frannie's Goodie Shop originated in Mount Kisco. The first store opened in 2011, and the chain now includes the original location, YoArt Frozen Yogurt Boutique at The Plaza Food Hall in New York City, and their newest Ridge Hill location.

The store features soft-serve gelato, ice cream and shakes. In addition, it serves crepes, baked goods, coffee and other beverages in a café area, and includes fully-stocked candy store.

Customers enjoyed discounted yogurt and children were given free cotton candy and other treats.

Spano and other dignitaries including City Council President Chuck Lesnick and Councilman Christopher Johnson sampled some of the products before the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"It's very good," Spano told The Daily Voice, "It's another opening of a great business in Yonkers. I'm excited to bring my kids here. Ridge Hill has become our destination almost every weekend this summer. It's a lot of fun. I'm hopeful that more people from Yonkers and all around the region will come here."

In her remarks before the ribbon cutting, owner Frannie Albanese spoke passionately about her vision for her business.

"If you haven't noticed, we are truly the minority here at Ridge Hill," she said, "we are a mom and pop operation. Our vision for Frannie's Goodie Shop is to create a place where people young and old can gather, and share some wonderful sweets and experiences together, and build memories that last a lifetime."

Spano, Lesnick, Johnson, family members and friends joined the Albanese's in cutting the ribbon and officially opening the store.

"We are blessed to have such a beautiful day, a great turnout, and very happy customers. I am thrilled with how the opening went," Frannie told The Daily Voice.

Kimberly Trolio, of Yonkers, enjoyed frozen yogurt with her one-year-old son.

"I think it's a great attraction to Ridge Hill. The yogurt is really good and I don't think we have anything like it around here so I think it's great," she said.

Kelly Castro, of Yonkers, stopped by the opening with her two children.

She said, "I love it here. My little one can get something to eat, my oldest one can get something to eat, we can get something to eat. It's great."

Frannie's Goodie Shop is located at 260 Market St., and is open on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
