Mucinex Cold, Flu Medicine Recall Announced

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y -- There has been a voluntary recall for certain Mucinex medicines because the drug facts on the back of the bottle may not all be listed, according to a report by the Food and Drug Administration.

The Food and Drug Administration announced a voluntary recall for some Mucinex products.

The following medicines are being recalled: Mucinex Fast-Max Night-Time Cold & Flu, Mucinex Fast-Max Cold and Sinus, Mucinex Fast-Max Severe Congestion and Cough and Mucinex Fast Max Cold, Flu and Sore Throat.

The over-the-counter medications, which correctly label the product on the front of the bottle, may not have all the correct corresponding drug facts labeled on the back, the FDA said.

The mislabeling could cause the consumer to be unaware of side effects and/or risks associated with the ingestion of the product's ingredients, which include Acetaminophen, Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Phenylephrine and/or Diphenhydramine, according to the FDA.

The voluntary recall is being issued nationwide as a precautionary measure to ensure that costumers have all relevant ingredients, facts and warnings.
