The Saw Mill River Daylighting Phase III, SoYo Mixed-Use Development and the Ashburton Avenue Revitalization Project are expected to continue growing Yonkers’ downtown waterfront district through job creation.

“Economic development, job creation and investment are back on track in Yonkers,” said Mayor Mike Spano. “With the continued support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and our state delegation, we will continue the progress of the last three years, growing our city, improving our economy and redefining Yonkers as the best city in which to live, work and play.”

The Saw Mill River Daylighting Phase III project will create a public park along New Main Street from Ann Street to the Nepperhan Avenue arterial and make way for a future riverwalk park at Chicken Island.

The SoYo Mixed-Use Development  project is creating a 550,000-square-foot mixed-use, transit-oriented development near Metro-North Railroad’s Yonkers station, adjacent to Van der Donck Park. It includes 400 residential units and 34,000 square feet of ground-floor space for retail occupants and restaurants.

Streetscaping, traffic, road and bridge improvements will take place under the Ashburton Avenue Revitalization Project, and will improve vehicle and pedestrian travel in and out of downtown Yonkers.

The endorsement of three new projects follows the grand opening of Library Lofts in the former Yonkers Library, the groundbreaking of Grant Park II affordable housing and Yonkers Arts Weekend, which brought 2,500 attendees to venues across Yonkers.
