A registered "sexually violent offender" accused of having deviate sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl has reported an address change in Yonkers.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Thursday to Westchester County residents regarding the residency of 49-year-old John Vega, who has moved to an apartment on Riverview Place to a one on Elm Street in Yonkers.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Vega a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Vega has deviate sexual intercourse and sexual contact with his 16-year-old victim in June 2002. He was arrested by the New York City Police Department Sex Offender Unit and convicted in May the following year of sodomizing and forcibly compelling his victim to have intercourse and was sentenced to 8 years in state prison.

Vega was accused of "immediately and physically overpowering" his victim - who was known to him - and allegedly struck her multiple times. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Yonkers Police Department SOR Unit.
